Well, the final assembly for 2023 was quite lively! We sang Christmas songs, danced, and had a great time. Nursery even joined us for a few songs, and our wonderful Year 6 children did an excellent job looking after them.

I don’t know about you, but it feels like we are wrapping up for the Christmas Holidays unusually late this year. The past eight weeks have been brimming with pantomimes, discos, nativities, and a many more festive activities.
On Thursday, we will be finishing our school day at 1:30 pm. This early closure schedule also applies on the last day of school in the summer. We know that dates can occasionally be overlooked on ClassDojo and text messages, so to ensure everyone stays well-informed, we encourage you to subscribe to the school calendar, accessible at the bottom of the page.

A huge well done to Maddie and Isabelle, who have raised £503 between them for Sheffield Children’s. What an achievement girls! Think of all the lives you will touch with your kindness.
Anti-Bullying Policy
Last week was anti-bullying week. In collective worship, we learnt how to be an anti-bullying school and shared our ‘child-friendly’ anti-bullying policy.
This policy clearly explains exactly what children need to do if they experience bullying. A copy can be found in classrooms and on our school website.
Remember bullying is… Several Times On Purpose (STOP).

Dear Parent/Colleague,
The Diocese of Sheffield Multi Academy Trust is the admissions authority for our school. This means the trust is responsible for setting the admissions arrangements for the schools within its organisation. When changes are proposed to admission arrangements, all admission authorities must consult on their admission arrangements that will apply for admission applications the following school year.
A change to the policy is proposed for St Alban’s C of E Primary School and the proposed new policy can be found at https://wsap.academy/policies/.
The trust have resolved to consult on a change to admissions policies, starting with the one determined for use next year to offer places to the September 2025 intake. The change is a move from prioritising church attendance to prioritisation of children living locally, in the parish. We believe this to be pastorally and educationally responsible, prioritising allocating places to children who live in the parish community of the school, as determined by the Church of England on “A Church Near You” [https://www.achurchnearyou.com/]
We see this as in keeping with the spirit of the Church of England’s historic commitment to parish schooling, acknowledging that our schools are not faith schools for the faithful, they are Church schools for the community.

On Thursday 16th November, we will be hosting a parent workshop explaining how we teach handwriting at St Alban’s.
From the first day of school, we pay particular attention to good writing habits. By the end of the session you will know what we mean by BBC, TNT and lots of other useful tips.

Today Huw Thomas from the Diocese of Sheffield, presented Bibles to year 2 and 3 children at St Alban’s Church.
Children in year 2 were presented with a picture bible that they will take home at the end of key stage one.
Children are presented with a different Bible when they move in to the juniors (year 3). This Bible stays with the children as they move classes and they take it home when they leave St Alban’s.
How will we use the Bibles?
Children use their Bibles in collective worship, religious education and engage with it weekly in class.
It was lovely to see so many parents, grandparents and friends at the service- the perfect finish to a busy week.
