Supporting our Children through Books

By Community, English, PSHE, Reading

Unfortunately, most children will experience loss or grief. We want to be here for our children through the good times and the sad times. With the help of Ernie’s Wish, we now have a library of beautiful books that could help children through these challenging times.

Children can loan these books or read them with an adult at school -whatever feels right. Books have such a special way of helping children understand and explore unfamiliar emotions.

Please let us know if your child requires any additional pastural care.

A big thank you to Mrs Mayor, who sourced many of these books from Ernie’s Wish.

Thank you,

Classroom Libraries

By English, House Carmel, Reading

This week we are thrilled to launch our new Classroom Libraries. On class pages, we will post a picture of the library books that your child can take home to read.

With the support of The Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE) we have created a list of ‘must’ reads for each year group. These are quality texts that we want our children to encounter.

The attached letter explains how this exciting initiative will work.

As always, if you have any questions then please get in touch with either myself or your child’s class teacher.

New Behaviour Policy

By Community, Policies

We are very proud of our pupils’ behaviour. They are polite, kind and work incredibly hard. Following school visits, we often receive letters praising our children’s exemplary behaviour. So a big ‘thank you’ for raising such fabulous children!

We have adapted our behaviour policy so that it is child friendly. Making sure that everyone knows what is expected of them and leaving nothing to chance. At St Alban’s we recognise that no child is perfect. This policy aims to teach our children how to learn from their mistakes so that they can continue to flourish.

Please find attached a copy of our revised behaviour policy.

House Jordan wins the cup!

A huge congratulations to House Jordan, who have won the House Cup this half term. To celebrate this achievement, today every child in House Jordan has been awarded a blue house badge.

House points are awarded for outstanding effort and exceptional quality work as well as for any child who has shown positive attitudes that go above and beyond the normal high expectation.

Well done House Jordan!

Thank you Aspen Lodges

By Community, FS1, FS2, Fund Raising

Over the Summer Holidays, we have been truly blessed by one of our parents. Mr McCoy and his team of highly skilled builders built a tree house in our Foundation Stage playground.

Our children have loved playing in our new tree house. It changes daily, from the Dragon’s castle to Robin Hood’s Home. School are overwhelmed by the generosity of Mr McCoy and his team. Thank you so much for making our school such a special place.
