Summer Holiday – Family Activities at Barnsley Museums

By Community

Barnsley Museums are offering a range of family activities this summer across all of our five sites (Experience Barnsley, Cannon Hall Museum, Cooper Gallery, Elsecar Heritage Centre and Worsbrough Mill.)

The majority of the activities are free, and our sites are free to enter.

Please could you share these with parents and carers at your school?

Many thanks,

The Barnsley Museums Learning Team

Summer Fair – Friday 19th July

The PTA would be extremely grateful to our wonderful bakers if they could provide cakes/buns for the cake stall. If baking could be brought in on Friday morning that would be a big help.

Tombola – we are also taking donations of new items/food/drink for the tombola. The kids always love a tombola so your donations would be really appreciated. If these could be brought in by Thursday at the latest to allow us to ticket them.

We have our fingers crossed for the weather so that we can celebrate another great school year with you all.

Please contact the office if you would like to help at the fair. It is our biggest event of the year so it will be all hands on deck to be ready for 3:10pm for the children. Please share with any Grandparents too!

Thank you
Mrs Shemwell

Summer Fair

The fair will open at 3:10pm to allow the teachers to get to their stalls or bouncy castle once they have seen the children out of class.

TPT – Kids Spring Bank Activity Pack

By Uncategorized

Good afternoon

Half term is just a week away, so we’ve uploaded our latest Kids Half term activity pack on to our website that is available free for parents and carers to download.

Once again, the pack contains lots of fun activities for the holidays that include making a raft out of twigs, making butterfly cakes, learning about Spring flowers and honey bees, and helping us at TPT HQ to celebrate the Trail’s 35th Birthday with some fun activities.

The pack is aimed at primary school children with help as necessary from their parents or carers, and older children may enjoy some of the activities too.

The activity pack can be used ‘on the go’ by downloading it to a mobile or can be printed at home. We’re also happy to send out printed copies to people who don’t have a printer or are unable to access the PDF.  All they need to do is email us their address and we post it out to them.

Download it from our Children’s page at:

We hope your children enjoy the activities.  We’d love to receive your feedback about the pack and suggestions for activities to include in our next pack that we’ll be producing for the Summer holidays, just email us at

Kind Regards

TPT Team

National Numeracy Day – Today, 22nd May!

By Maths

We are supporting National Numeracy Day on 22nd May!

At St Albans, Maths is a fundamental part of the school curriculum. A strong foundation in maths is essential for success in many other subjects, including science, geography, and computing.

Maths also teaches problem-solving skills that are valuable in everyday life. Whether it’s budgeting, making informed decisions about financial choices, or even cooking a meal for your family, mathematical skills are crucial for navigating the complexities of modern life.

How does maths make you feel? If your child asked you to help them with their maths homework, how confident would you feel about doing it?

If you would like help and advice on how to develop your own maths skills, please take a look at the National Numeracy Challenge website:

Or, for more information on National Numeracy Day, please visit

If you would like to support your child at home with maths, please see the attached Family Maths Activities Scrapbooks – one for each year group.

We also have two members of staff who are Numeracy Champions! Miss Nightingale and Mrs Bushby.
