Welcome to the 3rd issue of the KS2 Library Newsletter!
This newsletter has expanded to three pages, as there is so much happening with reading in our school right now. The biggest change is that students are now contributing directly to the content! In this issue, Carmel House Leaders Thomas and Chanu have written the Author Profile on David Walliams.
Highlights to look out for:
• New librarians for the Autumn term
• An updated “Most Requested” list
• New arrivals to the library
• Updated Classroom Library Lists for 2024–2025
• House Ambassadors sharing books from the book fair that they’re excited to read
Enjoy reading!

Check out our new reading bookmarks. These will be given to the children who have achieved the Reading Governor’s Award.
Each year the children will receive a different colour- try and collect them all!

Meet our reading tutors! Last week, Mr Frelich and I trained these children to listen to infants read. Once a week, our kind tutors will listen to younger children read, to help build their reading fluency.
Community is so important to St Alban’s. The younger children love having this special time with our year 5 and 6 children. What excellent role models we are blessed to have at our school!

This week we are thrilled to launch our new Classroom Libraries. On class pages, we will post a picture of the library books that your child can take home to read.
With the support of The Centre for Literacy in Primary Education (CLPE) we have created a list of ‘must’ reads for each year group. These are quality texts that we want our children to encounter.
The attached letter explains how this exciting initiative will work.
As always, if you have any questions then please get in touch with either myself or your child’s class teacher.
