Today Y2 had their first Relationship and Sex Education lesson. This largely focused on considering similarities and differences between girls and boys and challenging gender stereotypes.
Children had to place the objects into the hoop they thought the item was for: boys, girls or everyone. I picked random children to place the items and the first picture shows the children’s initial perception. I then asked if any child disagreed with where any of the objects were placed and to explain their reasoning as to why they disagreed. Isla definitely disagreed with football being for “boys” and argued her case brilliantly. As a class, children debated where they thought the items belonged and the final picture shows what the majority of children agreed upon.
After this, we discussed biological differences between males and females using the correct scientific language. I was really impressed by the children’s maturity, as they were very sensible during the lesson.
We are truly grateful for all of your uniform donations. Every night Mrs Nightingale restocks the clothes line and they are selling fast.
In assembly, we have discussed with the children about how cool it is to reuse and recycle- we hope that the school uniform shop will send out a clear message that they can make a difference to the world we live in.

We have noticed that many children express a keen interest in card games and swapping. If your child would like to take part in card games, then we kindly request that they read this letter.
In the upcoming weeks, we have planned various activities to enhance playtime for the children. Our focus will be on teaching them clapping songs such as “The Sailor Went to Sea, Sea, Sea,” as well as introducing games like French skipping and cat’s cradle. These activities aim to engage the children, promote social interaction, and provide them with a diverse range of play options.

Over the past three weeks, our corridors have been filled with uplifting gospel music. And now, we have transitioned to exploring the world of jazz. Through this musical journey, our goal is to familiarise our children with different genres of music and broaden their musical horizons.
Rest assured, despite our newfound musical enthusiasm, we are still maintaining our commitment to orderly behaviour in the corridors. We continue to encourage our students to walk smartly and responsibly. However, you may notice a slight swing in our step as we embrace the rhythms and melodies of these captivating genres!
By exposing our children to a diverse range of musical styles, we aim to ignite their curiosity, and expand their appreciation for music.
Our Jordan House Leader, Evie, presented an assembly about Mental Health. She highlighted issues around mental health and how children can ask for help if they are struggling.
