Happy World Book Day

By English, FS1, FS2, Reading, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6

A huge thank you to everyone who took part in our school vocabulary parade. Can you spot the child dressed as ‘disguise’ or ‘monochrome’?

Today every child in KS2 shared a book with a child in KS1. The teachers commented on how caring the older children behaved towards the younger children. We have a school filled with future teachers!

We are very impressed with the children’s creative responses to our school challenge of animating a word. Mrs Teale and Mr Frelich will be announcing the competition winners very soon.

Y5 Book Busters

By English, Reading, Year 5

At our second Book Busters session, we discussed Harry Miller’s Run and The Savage.

Harry Miller’s Run is about three boys and a girl who go on a run.  We would definitely recommend this book to Year 5 children.

We would recommend The Savage to Year 5 children and those who are older.  We enjoyed it because it has a character we have never met before.  It is a mystery and is so different from other books. We really enjoyed the part where things come to life.

We have now started reading new Book Buster books.  Look out for our recommendations next month!

Y5 Book Busters

By English, Reading, Year 5

Today, Year 5 had their first Book Buster session of the new year.  We really enjoyed sharing our ideas about the different books. Read on to find our recommendations.

We recommend London Eye Mystery because it is action packed and lures you in.  Make sure you keep reading past the first few chapters.  If you come across any issues, please share them with a grown up.

We would recommend Skellig to Year 5 because it is different from anything we have ever read before.  It feels real in parts and stirs up lots of emotions.  The book shows how love can make us stronger.
