Year 6’s Leavers Assembly

By News, Religious Education, Visits, Year 6

Today was a very emotional service at St Alban’s as the school community said farewell to our year 6 class. Highlights of the event:

  • Amelia being presented with the Pycroft Bible by Margaret Pycroft.
  • Mr Woodhouse and Oliver having a David and Goliath fight.
  • School prayers read out by Isabelle, Laini and Charlie.
  • Singing ‘One more step along the way I go’.
  • But most of all spending precious time together in our Church.

Sending our best wishes to such a lovely class who have worked incredibly hard over the last 8 years and grown into kind young people.

Happy St Alban’s Day

Today is St Alban’s Day

Our school sets huge value on the quality of courage so let’s take a moment to think about St Alban’s courageous act.

St Alban is venerated as the first recorded Christian martyr in England. His death came as a result of him shielding a priest to whom he had given refuge. It is in the nature of this story that it concerns one who gave his life for his values and beliefs.
Though a legend the story embodies something of the vulnerability that is required if we are to act in courage. Alban quite literally cloaks himself with the garment of the one he seeks to protect and, in doing so, takes his place.

Eid

By Religious Education, Year 4

Last weekend, Aliza celebrated Eid with her family.  Today, she showed us her lovely new outfit she wore for the celebrations and told us more about how she celebrates Eid at home.  Thank you for sharing Aliza.

A prayer for our year 6 children

By News, Religious Education, Year 6

Dear Lord,

As I take this test, I thank you that my value is not based on my performance, but on your great love for me.

Help me, not only with this test, but the many tests of life that are sure to come my way.

As I take this test, bring back to my mind everything I have studied and be gracious with what I have overlooked.

Help me to remain focused and calm, confident in the facts and in my ability, and firm in the knowledge that no matter what happens today you are there with me.

Amen
