Last week, Year 5 developed their orienteering skills by completing a new orienteering course. They worked hard to follow the map and solve the clues.

Today we received the excellent news that we have maintained our Platinum School Games Mark.

St Alban’s Primary excel when it comes to PE & School Sport and fully deserve their Platinum Award for 2021/22. Their offer caters for all children within their school to experience physical activity and sport at a level they are comfortable with – constantly engaging with School Games and key stakeholders to ensure maximum uptake in extra-curricular opportunities. Their commitment to those children who aren’t ready for the competitive environment has been key to their success this year, with their Sports Leaders / Council playing a massive part in ensuring their school offer is current, inclusive and engaging.
Mrs Jepson also needs recognition for her hard work with the School Games and wider physical activity opportunities – she really is the driving force behind their success and the children and staff are lucky to have her as their PE Lead. Well done Mrs J and St Alban’s!
A huge well done to Sophie, who took part in the Rotherham Schools Fun Run yesterday. Sophie did so well, running the whole way around and coming first in her age group. We are very proud of you Sophie.
Lillie and Lottie are a part of Trailblazers Allstars Cheerleading club. On Saturday, they competed at Sheffield Institute of Sport against ten other cheerleading groups and came third. This is the first competition they have entered.
Well done to them both. What interesting activities do you do out of school?
Today in PE, Year 5 worked on their tennis skills. They began by developing their hand eye coordination.

The children had an amazing time at the Oakes.
They took part in many activities, games and collective worship.
Today, Year 5 began their residential at the Oakes. We did team building activities, drove remote control cars, raced zorbs, paddled rafts and completed the tough mudder course. I wonder what our next activities will be.
Well Done to the year 5 children who competed in the Rotherham School Tennis Festival at Moorgate Tennis Club on the 2nd July.
