School Uniform Shop

By Community, FS1, FS2, Fund Raising, House Jericho, Letters to Parents, Lost Property, PSHE, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6

We are truly grateful for all of your uniform donations. Every night Mrs Nightingale restocks the clothes line and they are selling fast.

In assembly, we have discussed with the children about how cool it is to reuse and recycle- we hope that the school uniform shop will send out a clear message that they can make a difference to the world we live in.

Thank you,

Swapping Card Games – Playtimes

By Community, Dining, PSHE, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6

Dear parents and carers,

When children have a proper break during playtime, they tend to perform better in their classes. With this in mind, we are constantly working on making playtimes more enjoyable for all our children.

We have noticed that many children express a keen interest in card games and swapping. If your child would like to take part in card games, then we kindly request that they read this letter.

In the upcoming weeks, we have planned various activities to enhance playtime for the children. Our focus will be on teaching them clapping songs such as “The Sailor Went to Sea, Sea, Sea,” as well as introducing games like French skipping and cat’s cradle. These activities aim to engage the children, promote social interaction, and provide them with a diverse range of play options.

Thank you for your continued support.

Parent Reading Meeting

By Community, English, FS1, FS2, News, Reading, Year 1, Year 2

Dear Parents and Carers,

I would like to express my gratitude to all the parents who attended our reading parents meeting this afternoon. It was wonderful to see such a strong turnout. During the session, we discussed the essential techniques for effectively listening to children read using RWInc books.

Today, I will share the notes from the meeting on Class Dojo, which include video links to further support your understanding.  If you have any questions or require additional guidance, approach myself, Mrs. Whyman, or your child’s class teacher. We are all highly knowledgeable in the field of reading and are here to assist you.

For those who were unable to attend this meeting, please note that we will be rescheduling it during the Autumn Term. We believe this information is crucial for your involvement in your child’s reading progress, and we want to ensure that every parent has the opportunity to benefit from this session.

Warm regards,

Mrs Gurner

A HUGE thank you from the PTA

By Community, English, FS1, FS2, Fund Raising, Letters to Parents, PTA, Year 1, Year 2

We have some exciting news to share with you this week! Thanks to your incredible support at PTA events, we have received Toni’s, wonderful listening stations, for our nursery, reception, and year 1 and 2 classrooms. These listening stations will provide our students with the opportunity to enjoy their favourite stories during wet plays or quiet reading time.

We extend our deepest gratitude to all the parents who have contributed to the PTA events, making it possible for us to acquire these valuable resources. On behalf of the children, we want to say a heartfelt THANK YOU for your generous support.

We are thrilled to share that we are currently in the process of designing a new outside quiet area for our KS2 students. The PTA has graciously agreed to fund this project, which will provide a serene and comfortable space for our older students to relax and engage in quiet activities.

PE Kit Vote

By Community, Equality, Letters to Parents, Physical Education, Year 1, Year 2, Year 3, Year 4, Year 5, Year 6

Earlier this year, we introduced a new PE kit protocol, where children came to school wearing their PE kit. While this change received mixed feedback from parents, we value your opinions and want to find a solution that works best for everyone.

To address the issue regarding PE kits, we would like to invite parents to participate in a voting process. Your input will help us determine the preferred approach moving forward. We have outlined two options for you to consider:

Option 1:

Children bring their PE kit in a named bag and leave it at school. It is the responsibility of both the child and parent to ensure the kit is regularly taken home for washing. Teachers will empty the cloakrooms every half term to facilitate this process.

Option 2:

Children come to school wearing their PE kits.

To gather your votes, Mrs. Cooper and Mrs. Jepson will be sending out a voting poll within the next two weeks. Your vote truly counts and will play a significant role in shaping our PE kit protocol.

Thank you for your continued support and active involvement in shaping our school policies.

Look out for the poll on Class Dojo!

Year 1 – Bridge Building Day

By Year 1

Diary Date

MONDAY 27TH MARCH 2023

Bridge Building Day

The children do not know this yet, but London Bridge has fallen down!!!!!
They are going to be tasked with designing and making a new one.

I would like to invite parents/carers/grandparents who are available to come into school for the morning of 27th March 2023 from 8:45 till about 11am to help the children make the bridges.

I have done this in the past and it was a fun morning with each child having an adult to support them. Here are some photos from the website to show you what we did.

Do not worry if you cannot stay for the full morning you can stay for as long as you are able and I know the children will love to share this experience with you.

We will need to collect many resources, particularly boxes, tubes, string, newspaper, masking tape etc, so please begin saving boxes etc.

We look forward to seeing you there for what promises to be a fun, exciting and messy morning.
