The Ancient Egyptians

Today, Year 5 visited Weston Park Museum to find out more about the Ancient Egyptians.

First we thought about what life was like in Britain in the Bronze Age and began to compare the life of people in Britain at that time with that of the Ancient Egyptian people.

We looked carefully at artefacts and used them to try to answer our questions about Ancient Egyptian life.

We found out more about Mummified People and how they were prepared for their afterlife. We discussed whether grave goods should be displayed in museums.

We made our own shabti which are figurines found in many Egyptian tombs.

We thought about the science involved in the mummification process and conducted an experiment to see what happens to tomatoes when they are dried or have salt added to them.
