Year 5 Visit from an Archeologist

This week, Year 5 had a visit from an archeologist who brought a wealth of artefacts for us to study to find out about the lives of people in the past. We learned that the word Viking means pirate and that the people who came to Britain in AD 793 were Norsemen. Viking is a job description not an ethnic group.

We began the day by studying artefacts closely by drawing them, deciding what they were made of and what they were used for.

Later, we decorated our own leather key rings using runes.

We tried on clothes and held swords.
