This half term, we have been learning about diversity. We asked every child in the school to complete a questionnaire to find out what diversity means to them.
This week our house leaders have been super busy interviewing children to prepare a diversity assembly that we are going to show at school tomorrow. House leaders worked so hard to conduct the interviews in a covid safe way.

Today our lovely house leaders led collective worship for the whole school.
In this meeting, house leaders discuss class elections that are happening on the 6th May. We think it is important that our children learn about democracy, preparing them to live and thrive in modern Britain.

Today Huw Thomas from the Diocese of Sheffield, presented Bibles to our key stage two children via a live zoom.
All pupils were invited to the special collective worship, including our youngest children in foundation 1, who sat beautifully.
For many years, it has been a St Alban’s tradition to present our year 6 children with a Bible as they leave school in year 6. From today, we are doing things slightly different.
Children will be presented with a Bible when they move in to the juniors (year 3). This Bible will stay with the children as they move classes and they will take it home when they leave St Alban’s.
How will we use the Bibles?
Children will use their Bibles in collective worship, religious education and engage with it weekly in class. In addition to this, I plan to work with each class to explore some fantastic Bible stories that are not covered in our curriculum.
In the Summer term we will be presenting our lovely year 6 class with a new leaving gift, which we know they will cherish.

On Friday in celebration assembly, house leaders shared our house point leader board. The children were very excited to see how many points their house has earned.
House points are awarded for outstanding effort and exceptional quality work as well as for any child who has shown positive attitudes that go above and beyond the normal high expectation.
Who will win the St Alban’s Cup this half term?
Last week in collective worship, we learnt about Children’s Mental Health Week. To support parents at home we will be posting some resources that you may find useful.
Young Minds have created a useful poster highlighting ways to give support to children when they have angry feelings or outbursts and may help families start a conversation and talk about each other’s feelings.
At school, we normally have key stage collective worship on a Thursday. During this time we learn about different religious events and explore special days and weeks.
This week is Children’s Mental Health Week and for the next two days I’ll post videos that we were planning to look at in school.
This year’s theme is Express Yourself. How do you express yourself? It is important to express yourself or how you are feeling?
