In year 5, we have been working on forces. This week we tried some experiments to make us observe, notice and explain. Our first experiment was to transfer jelly cubes from one bowl to another with chopsticks. Next, we added a little sunflower oil to the jelly cubes and moved more of them to another bowl.

Y6 have been investigating and learning about electrical circuits this half term. They have enjoyed testing whether circuits work, how they can change components and how to draw circuits.
This week in Year 4 we have been learning how to create expanded noun phrases, turn them into sentences and then extend them with a subordinating conjunction. Here is a selection of the some of the finished sentences:
The gold, sparkling lanterns swung on the ceiling as the sound of peaceful footsteps entered the room with laughter fading away in the distance – Annie.

The eerie shadow moved side to side as the gusts entered the tent – Lara.
In science, Year 3 have been busy preparing for our upcoming shadow puppet show. We wanted to ensure that we could alter the size of our shadows to make our puppet characters appear larger/smaller at different points in our performances. We investigated whether we could change the size of our shadows by altering the distance between the light source and the shadow puppet. To do this, we used our rulers to accurately measure the distance between the light source and the puppet and also, measure the width of the shadow. Before trying each distance, we predicted how wide we thought the shadow would be. Our results showed that the closer the light source is to the object, the bigger the shadow.
On Thursday, Year 5 enjoyed lots of World Book Day activities including a quiz. The thing we all enjoyed most was reading our books!
Y6 children have received their new Bibles. Children use them during Collective Worship and also for discussions in the classroom.
Y6 have been working extremely hard during Design and Technology lessons. They have been designing a nightlight for a younger child. Part of their design process was to do market research so they prepared questionnaires for the Y2 children.
